Massive Ash Cloud From Iceland Volcano Eruption Plays Havoc W/European & Transatlantic Air Travel.

Looks like everybody across the pond is George Monbiot now, whether they like it or not.

An extensive plume of fine ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano has drifted across much of Europe and the UK , shutting down air travel in the process. Civil Aviation authorities from across Europe are concerned that an accumulation of ash in the engines of aircraft would cause them to shut down mid-flight.

The shutdown already represents the biggest disruption of civilian air travel in that part of the world since WWII and has left thousands of travelers stranded across Europe this week. The shutdown is costing airlines millions of dollars per day, and still isn't known exactly when airspace is expected to reopen. The spreading cloud has prevented heads of state from attending the funeral of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who was killed with 93 others in what was presumably a non-volcanic ash related plane crash. People with respiratory conditions have also been warned to stay indoors as much as possible

Already the Global Warming alarmists and shysters have tried holding this Icelandic eruption up as an example of the dire looming threat that global warming (caused by you and me- not them, tho') plays in melting glaciers in Iceland, thus causing more volcanoes there to blow their top.

Apparently up until recently, Eyjafjallajokull was encased in a glacier. Look- I'm no geologist....hell....I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but wouldn't....oh....I dunno....something like molten magma or superheated gases and ash play as much a role in the accelerated melting of a glacier with a freakin' active volcano on top of it as say any given coal-fired power plant?

Also, I'm dying to know which 'carbon footprint' is bigger.....commercial air travel in Europe any given year or Eyjafjallajokull blowing its top and spewing ash for thousands of miles.

Global Warming Shuts Down Channel Tunnel- Two Trains Blocking Tracks

Bloomberg is reporting as many as 1300 people may be stranded.

As many as 1,300 passengers from two trains in one tunnel were to be evacuated on an empty vehicle being sent to collect them from another tunnel, the report cited the spokesman of Eurotunnel as saying. Three trains broke down, the report said.

The temperature difference between the cold air and warm tunnel caused the trains to break down, the BBC reported on its Web site, citing train operator Eurostar. The Met Office issued amber warnings for London and southeastern England earlier this week amid heavy snow.

Further proof of Global Warming....I mean climate change.

I hope the passengers and crew are able to get un-stuck from the tunnel safe and sound.

Blizzard Dumps Snow on Copenhagen as Leaders Battle Warming

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) -- World leaders flying into Copenhagen today to discuss a solution to global warming will first face freezing weather as a blizzard dumped 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snow on the Danish capital overnight.

“Temperatures will stay low at least the next three days,” Henning Gisseloe, an official at Denmark’s Meteorological Institute, said today by telephone, forecasting more snow in coming days. “There’s a good chance of a white Christmas.”

While I'm thinking about it, somebody get word out to the airport's ground crew in Copenhagen that there could be a few extra Krones in their stockings this Christmas if they were more than a little stingy with the de-icer for Chavez and Mugabe's planes.

Copenhagen - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe arrived Tuesday in Copenhagen to take part in the final days of the UN climate talks to be attended by some 120 world leaders, Danish television footage showed.

Hugo Chavez also announced yesterday that he will attend the final days of the Copenhagen conference. Chavez says that global warming is to blame for drought in Venezuela, which affected their hydroelectric power supply (as opposed to central government planning being to blame).

I'm touched that Chavez and Mugabe would take time out of their busy schedules of pile-driving their economies into the ground and squelching opposition at home to fly halfway around the world to demand money from industrial nations

The 1,073 e-mails examined by the AP show that scientists harbored private doubts, however slight and fleeting, even as they told the world they were certain about climate change. However, the exchanges don't undercut the vast body of evidence showing the world is warming because of man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

Is there a turbine to harness the power of all this spinning? Just because they used suspect methodology, withheld information from other researchers and openly ridiculed skeptics doesn't mean their findings are flawed in any way shape or form. I mean, come on- the debate is over! And just in time for bloodthirsty genocidal despotic nations like Sudan to start demanding money from the industrialized nations at this farce in Denmark.

What is difficult for developed countries to understand is the choice of Sudan as a standard-bearer in the first place. The G77 elected Sudan as its chair in September, 2008, when its genocidal campaign in Darfur was already well known. By March, 2009, Omar al-Bashir, the country's president, became the first sitting head of state to be indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court, all related to the Darfur attacks that killed hundreds of thousands of civilians. Mr. al-Bashir is a wanted man, and his attendance at Copenhagen is unlikely; Sudanese leadership cannot be credible.

Maybe Sudan was selected for their uncompromising and hands-on approach to reducing the 'carbon footprints' of all those civilians in Darfur.

FOX News is reporting that even though limos and luxury sedans have to be brought in from adjacent countries to meet demand in Denmark, the free shuttle buses that the conference provided for delegates are making their rounds while mostly empty.
